Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Kaletapwa Farauta George and her family on Tuesday, restored hope and functionality to the Numan General Hospital by making a personal donation of an Ambulance to the Hospital.
New Herald gathered that for a very long time, the hospital which served as the referral centre in the Numan Federation, had been operating without a functional ambulance to respond to emergencies thereby exposing the inhabitants of the area to untold hardship when they are bereaved or in the event of any accident.
The Deputy Governor, being from the area according to our findings, had over time expressed worry over the level of infrastructural decay in the hospital despite the influx of patients in and around the surounding LGAs.
Within the last six months alone, she personally undertook the rehabilitation and renovation of structures within the hospital including road network, electricity and water.
To further boost medical delivery in the hospital, the Deputy Governor on Tuesday 12th February,2024 presented to the management of the Hospital an ambulance.
The donation which was in response to the need to address emergencies in the hospital, was presented by the husband of the Deputy Governor Mr George Farauta.
The New Herald gathered that the donation of the Ambulance was in response to the request by the Principal Medical Office (PMO) of the Numan General Hospital, Dr Raphael Nwaleromi who complained of lack of functional Ambulance in the facility.
Speaking in an interview with New Herald Online, Dr. Raphael Nwaleromi noted with satisfaction the personal intervention by the Deputy Governor which he said will amelioration the hardship being experienced by Staff and patients in the hospital.
He explained that for a very long time the hospital has been operating without a functional ambulance, as a result of which many lives were lost due to failure to respond on emergencies assuring that with the donation the facility will now be responsive in delivering its services.
He said the ambulance will be restricted to the hospital, warning that at on no account will the ambulance be used to convey corpses out side the hospital environment.
He urged other prominent sons and daughters of the area to emulate the gesture by Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta and family to complement governement effort in salvaging the health challenge of the citizens.
