Adamawa Ethnic Nationalities under the umbrella of Gongola People’s Forum will host all tribal associations in the State in a maiden programme intended to unite all tribes across the state.
The event scheduled for Saturday 29th of June,2024 at Ribadu Square will bring together the over 80 tribal groups in Adamawa State.
The submit and its attendant political undertones is causing an uneasy calm in some camps in the State.
Already, an elder stateman Dr Umar Ardo has described the programme as diversionary, ill motivated, exclusive and not good for the collective interest of the state.
Ardo posits that the planned ethnic nationalities submit will severe the current political alignment hitherto enjoyed in the state noting that the submit will fan the embers of disunity amongst the political components of the state.
The leaders of the tribal groups however dismissed Dr Ardo’s position describing him as a meddlesome interloper.
According to the organizers, tribal associations existed in the state long before the creation of the state and the decision of the communities to converge to discuss a common front should not be a concern of others.
“We wish to remind Dr Umar Ardo and his co-travelers that when Tabbital Pu’ulaku Worldwide converged on the state some years back,tribal groups in the state never complained “one of the community leaders stated.
While calling on tribal groups, invited guests to be careful not to be dissuaded, stakeholders are enjoined to work towards success of the programme.
The programme which is expected to host governors, senators, TY Danjuma and hosts of others, sister ethnic movements like afenifere, Ohanaze Ndi Igbo, SOKEPU among others are expected to attend.
A Pre-Event Press briefing earlier addressed by members of the organizing committee indicates that the stage is set as all arrangements for a successful hosting of the programme have been concluded.
