Adamawa Govt Approves N37.7bn For 3 Mega Science Secondary Schools, Yola 5th Flyover, Roads

Adamawa State Government has approved the establishment and construction of 3 Mega Senior Science Secondary Schools one each in the 3 Senatorial zones of the State.
The Mega Science Schools are coming shortly after the commencement of the construction work of Model Schools across the 21 Local Governement Areas.

The Science Schools, approved for Lamurde Local Governement for Southern Senatorial zone, Hong Local Government for Central Senatorial Zone and Gulak,in Madagali Local Governement for Northern Senatorial Zone will cost about N17.1bn.

Also approved, was N13.8bn for the expansion of the remaining section of Galadima Aminu Way and construction of Underpass at Fire Service Roundabout in Yola, the state capital with the completion period of 18 months.

Briefing Journalists at the end of the Council meeting, the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy,James Iliya explains that the Underpass project awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited will cover building of storm water drainage through Gimba road, and 2.3km service lanes on both sides of the existing dual carriageway among others.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the council has approved 7.5km road with bridges from Mararraba Garta to Kamale in Michika LGA at the cost of N4.3bn and the contract awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited with the completion period of 18 months.

Mr Iliya further added that the council has approved 14km Sukur road in Madagali LGA at the cost of N2.5bn, saying the contract was awarded to Rokat Construction Limted with the work duration of 12 months.

He further noted that the council has okayed contract for provision of electricity and portable water supply for 5,000 residents of Fintiri 1000 housing units, Malkohi in Yola South LGA at the cost of N854m and N832m respectively.

The Commissioner says the water project covers six industrial boreholes, 200,000 litres grant storage tank, 3/150litres elevated water storage tank, 5 distribution network for about 30km and the provision of solar power.

According to the commissioner, the council has approved N630m counterpart fund for the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, to enable the state government get N1. 2bn to fund critical projects such as water supply among others.

He future disclosed that the council has ratified the approval of Governor Umaru Fintiri for the Transfer of Yola International Hotel from Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Adamawa State Investment and Property Development Company.

In this regard, the Information Commissioner explains that the council has okayed N109m consultancy fee to
Wiya Capacity Limited, adding that the decision was aimed at inviting investors to generate proper revenue in that sector.

Contributing, the Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella said of the 3 Mega Science Senior Secondary Schools projects approved by the council, that of Hong is a special school for girls.
