Adamawa State Govt. Seals 8 proscribed Illegal Health Institutions

The Adamawa state Ministry of Health has began clamped down on Illegal Colleges of Health Technology earlier proscribed by the State House of Assembly.

The House of Assembly resolution prompted the ministry to set up a committee to investigate the worthiness or otherwise of the status of the Private Health Technology Colleges.

The clamped down exercise which started with the state capital has witnessed the sealing of two privately owned Colleges of Health in Yola South Local Government Area and six in Jimeta Metropolis of Yola North Local Government Area.

The Director Public Health, Ministry of Health, Mr. Isaac Kadala who led the Sealing Committee said, the exercise is statewide exercise and will continue in other zones.
According to him, the exercise will rid the state of Substandard institutions that breed unqualified and quack medical personnel that will have adverse implications on the state public health administration,hence the operations.

He said,institutions affected by the exercise include Fat-Hur-Rahman College of Health Sciences and Technology, Wuro Hausa Yola South Local Government Area as well as College of Health Technology, Almashkur International Academy Yola Bye-pass.

Others are School of Health Technology Kazaure, Dougirei Jimeta Yola North Local Government,Savannah Model Collage of Health Sciences and Technology, Freetown Avenue Behind AA Law an Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area,
Jimeta Central College of Health Science and Technology, FOMWAN, NEPA Road, Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area.

Also sealed are School of Health Technology, Jambutu Street, Nafan College of Health Science and Technology, Jambutu and Bell Dome College of Health Sciences and Technology, Nyako quarters, Jimeta Yola.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Barrister Isuwa Misali explained that the clamp down exercise is aimed at sanitizing health institutions in the state in line with Governor Fintiri’s agenda of providing effective and efficient health care delivery in Adamawa State.

He maintained that the ministry would not compromise on its standard on health care sector and assured that all training Institutions operating in the state must meet the required standard of operations.

According to Barrister Misali, all the identified colleges for closure did not meet the requisite requirement for establishing the training institutions.

The Permanent Secretary enumerated important components expected to be provided by a training health institutions to include having ten permanent health professional staff, recreational centre, sports facility, standard accommodation facility among others.

He however said, the affected colleges can still improve on their facility and come to the ministry to perfect all necessary procedures for establishing College of Health Sciences and Technology to get their operational permit.
