The Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Malam Abubakar Salihu has convened an emergency Management Team meeting to address the recently announced increase in Hajj fares for 2024. The meeting was attended by the Board Chairman Imam Bappari Umar Kem and Directors of the Commission.
During the interface, the Executive Secretary highlighted the need to provide clarity and updates to the intending pilgrims in light of the sudden fare increase. Explaining the situation, he stated that the decision for the fare increment was taken by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON.
According to the Executive Secretary, all intending pilgrims who have already paid the earlier announced hajj fare of N4,697,000 are to make additional payment of N1,918,032.91k on or before close of work on Wednesday 27th March 2024 to be able to perform the hajj through the Commission this year.
Similarly, fresh applicants can still pay the sum of N8,254,464.74k before the deadline to book for their seats to partake in the exercise.
This unexpected change has stirred concerns among intending pilgrims who had prepared for the pilgrimage based on previous fare estimates.
Recognizing the concerns raised by the intending pilgrims and their families, the Board Chairman, Imam Bappari Umar Kem appealed to the intending pilgrims to seek possible solutions to mitigate the impact of the fare increase.
The emergency meeting ended with the assurance that the Adamawa Pilgrims Commission would continue to prioritize the interests of the intended pilgrims and work diligently to resolve the challenges posed by the fare increment.
The Board Chairman concluded by calling for the support and understanding of the intending pilgrims, urging them to remain patient while the Commission endeavors to find a favorable resolution.
May Allah make it easy for intending pilgrims to find a fair and practical solution that will alleviate the financial burden and allow them to fulfill their religious obligations without unnecessary strain.
