Anxiety in Adamawa Over two Suicide incidence
With no insights to circumstances surounding the the latest suicide by a middle aged man in Jimeta town, days after a female health worker also snuffed her own life in a bizarre circunstance over the killing of her boy friend both in Adamawa State, tension is now mounting over increased cases of self-killing in most parts of the State.
The latest incident, involving one Yakubu Mamza a father of three, was found dead in the early hours of thursday 14th December, 2023 with his lifeless body hanging on the pillar of the gate in to the uncompleted building where he leaves around Muna Hotel area in 80 Housing Unit Estate Jimeta/Yola, with thick rope tight to his strangulated neck.
While the female Health Worker was reported to have drank a locally made insecticides substance “ota-pia-pia” to terminate her life, Yakubu Mamza ended his life by hanging himself.
The deceased did not leave any note for the family or public as to why he had to take his life but it was however gathered that he was separated with his wife and children for about two years and living alone in an uncompleted building.
It also gathered that neighbours who discovered his lifeless body, promptly alerted the Police after the body had been dismantled from the pillar of the gate.
The Spokesperson of State Police Command,SP Nguroje was yet to issue statement on the issue.
The increasing cases of suicide within residents have been on the increase as the state is recording about 7 cases within a span of time.
