Borno state Government has received the 277 Captives rescued by the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai.
The handing over ceremony which took place at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri has families,mostly women and children.
Maj. Gen. Ken Chitgu, deputy theatre commander, presented the 128 women and 149 children to the Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in an emotionally laddened ceremony.
According to the Chitgu,the families were rescued in the course of operations Desert Sanity 3 and Lake Sanity 2.
General Chitgu said the rescued people were considered victims and brought back for rehabilitation and reintegration.
The rescued women and girls will undergo “further examination.”
The state government plans to provide mental health support, family placement for orphaned children, and livelihood programs.
General Chitgu commended the Borno and Yobe State governments for their collaboration and specifically praised Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s commitment and support to security in the operations in the zone.
He also thanked stakeholders and international partners for their support in encouraging remaining terrorists to surrender for peace.
Hajiya Zuwara Gambo, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, expressed gratitude for the military for this wonderful efforts and pray for more efforts to rescue several others still in captivity.
