Man Kills Own Mother Accused Of Witchcraft, Told Police He Has No Regret Killing Her
A middle-aged man, Sadiq Idrissu, has reportedly shot and killed his biological mother, accused of witchcraft and allegedly terrorising their community.
Sadiq,a 30-year-old man who hails from Boga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, admitted to shooting and instantly killing his biological mother on December 5, 2023.
Sadiq, in his confessional statement, further informs us that he does not regret killing his mother, insisting that he could kill her again and again without any remorse.
His only regrets and sympathy were for his father, who married and lived with his mother, whom he said had traumatised and tightened his father’s destiny and life for years.
According to the suspect, I killed my mother because she appeared to me as a witch. People have been accusing her of witchcraft for the past few years and I confirmed the same to be
true because something kept frightening me more, especially at night,” he stated.
The suspect explained that his mother had become a subject of discussion in the community, and her existence was a disgrace to the entire family. She has been a nightmare to everybody, including her children, as she kept appearing to him in a dream as a witch and kept sending terrible fears and causing him sleepless nights.
He narrated that on that fateful day, he stormed their family house at mid-night and could not find his mother in the room, only his sister, who was sleeping, explaining that he immediately remembered that his mother had gone out to perpetrate witchcraft.
According to him, he also entered his father’s room but couldn’t find her, and while going out, he sighted her and shot her twice, which confirmed to him that she is a witch.
The spokesman of Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the incident, explained that the suspect murdered his mother over an allegation of witchcraft.
SP Nguroje said that the suspect was arrested following a tip-off, saying that the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, has directed that the matter be transferred to CID for further investigation and prosecution.
