College Of Nursing Appeals For Establishment of Degree Programmes In Nursing

The Provost, College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola, Dr Lami Aminu has called for the speedy introduction of degree Programme in nursing at the College of Medical Sciences, Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola.

The degree programme, the Provost said, would be of great advantage to the college of Nursing and MAUTH as both Institutions will serve a complementary role to the other.

The Provost who received in audience the management of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, MAUTH Yola on a familiarization visit on Tuesday,6th February,2024 said, the MAUTH was strategically positioned to the advantage of the College of Nursing which shares same vicinity with the University Teaching Hospital.

Dr Lami who extolled the professional quality and virtues of the CMD, Prof Adamu Bakari Girei, however congratulated him over his appointment and pledged partnership, cordiality, cooperation and collaboration of the college of nursing with the Teaching hospital

Aminu said MAUTH Yola has been utilising the college facility for her postgraduate nursing programmes introduced 6 years ago, in addition to conducting promotion examinations for the staff of hospital.

Nursing students are also posted on trying to MAUTH, among the benefits the college enjoyed from the hospital.

Earlier, the new CMD,Prof Bakarii Girei in his remarks stated that the MAUTH management was in the college following the change of leadership.

Prof Bakari who was tthe Provost College of Medical sciences, Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola before his appointment as CMD, also commended the management of College of Nursing for the teaching and learning services and for hosting the post basic nursing programmes of the Teaching hospital.

He revealed that MAU would soon introduce degree programme in nursing, assuring that the process is ongoing.

Prof Bakari said that when the degree programme is introduced, the staff with the college of nursing certificates would be among the instructors.
