Gunmen Attack Kaduna Community, Kills Pastor, Kidnaps His Wife
The night in Damakasuwa, Kaduna State, turned into a horrifying nightmare when a senseless act of violence suddenly besieged a peaceful community.
The targeted attack on the ECWA Church’s pastor, Amako Maraya, left the community reeling with shock and grief.
Gunmen, shrouded in darkness, descended upon the neighbourhood, their arrival marked by the terrifying sound of gunshots that shattered the tranquillity of the night.
Amidst the chaos and fear, the assailants made their way towards the pastor’s residence with ominous intent.
Ishaku Chinge, a respected figure within the community and an elder in the church, recounted the harrowing events that transpired on that dreadful night.
The gunmen’s arrival was swift and merciless, instilling terror among the residents by firing rounds into the air as they targeted the pastor’s home. This assault wasn’t the first time the pastor had faced such a grave threat.
The community had repelled previous attempts to harm him and his family, but tragically, this time, the attackers succeeded in their nefarious mission.
Chinge solemnly recalled the past, mentioning how just a few months prior, the same gunmen had attempted to abduct the pastor’s son. Though the community rallied and fought off the assailants, the son was injured in the skirmish.
However, this recent attack proved to be devastatingly fatal. The gunmen not only fatally shot the pastor but also callously abducted his wife, leaving the entire community in shock and anguish.
The horrifying ordeal didn’t end there. The kidnappers, after their heinous act, brazenly demanded a staggering sum of N3 million as ransom for the abducted widow.
Their menacing demands cast a shadow of fear and uncertainty over the community. Despite the initial communication, subsequent attempts to reach the abductors yielded no success, plunging the community into further distress and despair.
As the community grapples with the trauma and tension resulting from this vicious attack, their plea for assistance echoes loudly.
With the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, unreachable for an official response, the community’s distress intensified.
They earnestly pray that the security agencies and government authorities swiftly intervene and secure the safe return of the kidnapped clergyman’s wife.
