Illegal Mining: Development Area Administrator Summon District Heads Over Insecurity, Illegal Mining Activities

Development Area Administrator Summon District Heads Over Insecurity, IllegalMiningActivities.

Worried by the spade of kidnapping, cattle rustling and illegal mining activities in Yelwa Area in Gangdu
Development Area,Ganye Local Government, the Administrator of the Development Area Hon Emmanuel Stephen Jangiri has summoned an emergency Security meeting with the District Heads of Gangdu, Yebbi,Timdore as well as the DPO of Gangdu Divisional Police Station and other stakeholders to discuss the security situation in the area.

The meeting became necessary in view of the massive influx of people suspected to be illegal miners coming into the Area claiming to have been Registered with Mining Companies and individuals with mining licenses.

The Administrator warned all District Heads to be mindful of strange people coming to settle in their domain and directed that, henceforth visitors should be properly profiled and documented to for proper identity.

According to the Administrator, the District Heads should not allow illegal miners carry out any Mining activity in their dormain without any credible documents from the Federal and State Governments.

He streesed that the insecurity in most part of the Northwest was a fall out from the mining activities where the illegal miners form colonies to dislodge the communities to allow for unhindered mining activities.

Hon Jangiri said, the Development Area in collaboration with Ganye Local Government will ensure the entire Local Government is peaceful.
He directed that all mining activities if any should be stopped and any such move should be reported immediately.
In there separate responses the district heads appreciated the Sole Administrator for bringing back the lost glory of the Development Area and also stated that they will give him and the Executive Chairman of Ganye LGA Hon Jibrin Ali Gangjari their maximum support in trying to rid the area of crime and Banditry.
In his remarks the DPO Gangdu Divisional Police Station, DSP Abubakar also call for Synergy between the stake holders and security personnels in the Area for maximum result in combating Insecurity in the Area.
He appealed to the people to always report suspected individuals to the police so as to take proactive measures.
