The Peoples Democratic Party has directed all Party Executives at all levels who are civil servants or holding any political appointments to relinquish party positions.
In a circular”Removal of Civil Servants From Party Positions” dated 14th August,2024 signed by Barr.A.T.Shehu,State Chairman of the PDP,made available to New Herald Magazine, the Chairman cited section 48(1)(L) of the PDP Constitution which provides that ” A member of the Executive of the party shall deem to have resigned his party position if he takes full employment or Appointment in the public sector at the Federal,State or Local Government. The circular therefore directs all concerned to resign their party positions or the party will identify and terminate their membership of the party.
Barr.A T Shehu has recently been appointed from Adamawa State as a member of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the National Executive Committee of the PDP.
This development could be part of the strategy to re-stratagize and inculcate discipline in the party preparatory to the forthcoming mini convention to replace vacant national, state and local government party positions so created from some of these illegalities and disciplinary actions.
